Mama June, former TLC reality star, knows no shame. In the second part of her 3-part interview with Entertainment Tonight, in which she tries to explain why she reconnected with her ex, convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, she claims she’s afraid she has cancer.
She even lists a series of symptoms and says that she’s been seeing doctors for them. Oddly enough, she’s yet to get the tests she needs for these doctors to determine if she really has cancer, because her main focus right now is her kids.
This, coming from the woman who probably slept with the man who molested her 8-year-old daughter, is beyond rich.
Mama June’s desperate attempt to gain sympathy
Mama June has lost her hit reality show (and the good money that came with it), but she’s also running the risk of losing her kids, as Child Protection Services are still investigating to see if she put her 3 minor kids at risk by reconnecting with McDaniel.
She and McDaniel dated when her eldest daughter, Chickadee was just 8 years old. He went away to prison for molesting her, and she was removed from the house and raised by her maternal grandmother.
Honey Boo Boo, the show’s biggest star, is now 9 years old and she’s already been photographed in McDaniel’s presence, but Mama June insists that she and her other 2 sisters are just fine. Because she won’t talk about the possibility of losing custody, Mama June casually brings up the topic of cancer.
She could have it, she says.
She lists a series of symptoms and even underlines that she’s not mentioning her health worries because she’s trying to get sympathy. But all the while, this is precisely what she’s doing: if she was so worried she had cancer, she would have had the tests done. And there’s something to be said about the timing of her big revelation too.
Sugar Bear puts up a united front with her
Sugar Bear, Honey Boo Boo’s father and June’s estranged husband, also made an appearance during the interview. He seemed to have been crying, but ironically, he insisted that he believed June when she told him nothing romantic had gone down between McDaniel and herself.
He admits he’s worried about Honey Boo Boo but adds that McDaniel hasn’t done anything bad since he was released from prison, so for him, that means it’s ok if he hangs around his minor daughter. His motivation in saying this is obvious: he wants to get back with June and he hopes that her allowing him to move back home would eventually lead to this.
Mama June’s side-eye to this says it all, if her resounding “no” right at the end isn’t enough to deliver the message for Sugar Bear.
