14 DAY TRIAL // The sordid details of the Mark McDaniel child molestation scandal just keep pouring in, and Mama June is not coming out as the mother of the year, quite the opposite, in fact. More and more media outlets are claiming that Mama June conveniently chose to ignore her daughter's side of the story simply so that she could continue her affair with Mark McDaniel.
Anna “Chickadee” Cardweell related how her own mother refused to believe her when she told her that McDaniel had acted inappropriately towards her over and over. It seems that June conveniently chose to put it down as little girls' fantasies (Anna was 8 at the time) and continued dating McDaniel.
It's not that Anna never told her mother about the abuse, it's that her mother chose to ignore her
It wasn't until Anna took her troubles to one of her teachers that the whole scandal began to unravel. Radar claims that June ignored her daughter completely at the time, “June didn’t believe any of it. She listened to her boyfriend’s denials instead.”
This version is confirmed by Caleb Clark, one of Anna's former boyfriends, who goes on record to say that June is nothing but “a terrible mother.” In an interview with the National Enquirer, he says that “She chose her boyfriend over her own daughter’s safety. Anna is still angry with June about not believing her, and says she will never forgive her.”
It was Anna's teachers who ultimately went to the police
When Anna's teacher found out about her drama, she told the school counselor, who alerted Anna's grandmother, Sandra Hale, who is also her primary caretaker, and then alerted the Sheriff's office.
A trial ensued and McDaniel was forced to plead guilty to aggravated child molestation and then spend the next decade in jail. He was released in March 2014, at which point he started secretly meeting with June again.
Anna initially refused to believe that her mother was seeing her molester behind everyone's back, but photographic evidence emerged and witness' accounts began to pile up. Even TLC had to admit that the story was true and swiftly pulled the plug on the reality show in order to avoid complications.
In her first interview since the scandal broke out, Mama June underlines that she keeps the safety of her children as her primary concern to this day. That is very hard to believe when photos have been released in the press showing her and her daughter Honey Boo Boo in loving poses with child molester Mark McDaniel.
