Over the past few days, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the controversial “Ender’s Game” movie. Similar to other hot topics, this one is also leveraged by cybercriminals in their malicious schemes.

A few days ago, Harrison Ford, who stars in the movie, noted that statements against same gender marriage made by the author, Orson Scott Card, were not an issue for him.

The CNN article covering Ford’s statement has been copied by cybercriminals and sent out via email to unsuspecting internauts.

However, the emails entitled “Harrison Ford on ‘Ender's Game’ controversy: ‘Not an issue for me’” don’t point to the legitimate CNN article, but to a website that’s been set up to serve malware, Dynamoo’s Blog reports.

According to Conrad Longmore, the malware is hosted on a compromised GoDaddy website.

Users are advised to be on the lookout for such emails. Links contained in suspicious emails should never be clicked.

If you’re a victim of this scam, immediately scan your computer with an updated antivirus solution.
