Malware-spreading bogus CNN emails continue to make the rounds online. The latest series of spam emails leverages the story of Canadian teenager Rehtaeh Parsons who committed suicide after being abused.

Dynamoo’s Blog shows that the emails are a replica of a genuine CNN article on the topic.

However, instead of pointing to cnn.com, the links from the email point to a hacked website.

One of three malicious scripts is executed and the victim ends up on a malware serving site.

Beware of any emails that appear to come from a reputable website. This campaign leverages the names of CNN and other news organizations in an effort to trick users into visiting malicious sites.

In July, the same cybercriminals sent out bogus CNN emails regarding a statement made by actor Harrison Ford on the Ender’s Game controversy.
