Always remember that no one sends you checks without a good reason

Security experts warn that spam emails which allegedly come from an organization called Christian Liberty Financial are actually part of a clever scheme designed to spread the malicious Bredo Trojan.

According to Sophos researchers, the emails urge the recipients to download a bank check that’s contained in the message’s attachment.

In reality, no one will send you checks via email, especially for thousands of dollars and for no apparent reason.

This spam campaign was previously seen in December 2011, but it seems that at the time it was a success, otherwise cybercrooks wouldn’t have bothered sending the same emails.

Internet users are advised to be on the lookout for notifications that advertise checks from Christian Liberty Financial and ensure that their security software is permanently maintained up-to-date.
