If the thought of a male model modeling women's lingerie puts grotesque images in your head, think again. Androgynous model Andrej Pejic might be just the guy to change your mind, as you can see in the photos attached to this article.

Since he's now one of the hottest models around, being able to work for both men and women's designers, it's no wonder that a lingerie company jumped at the chance of signing him for an endorsement.

Dutch company HEMA approached Pejic in September this year and had him shoot photos for an upcoming campaign.

The ads are now out and, as it happens, they're for a bra that boasts to boost the cup size by up to 2 cups. This explains why he has a cleavage in the first place.

While HEMA is saying that the campaign is meant to be “revolutionary,” many voices online are saying that the message it sends it anything but.

Granted, there are also those who say that, if the bra makes Andrej look so good, it must do wonders for women, even for those who have really small breasts and can never find a good push-up.

Grazia magazine, for instance, is saying that having Andrej model women's lingerie is taking things a step too far: it's one thing to put him on the catwalk in couture, and another to give him a woman's job and have him sell such an intimate women's item to women from all over the world.

“They actually don’t care about their women customers and want to make us all feel bad that we are not as pretty or as thin or as gorgeous Andrej,” Grazia ventures a guess.

“Heck, if he can do this advert then, in reality, the fact that us girls who do have bosoms don’t even have the advantage over Andrej, not even when it comes to wearing bras,” the mag adds.

Of course, another plausible alternative would be that HEMA just wanted to cause a stir and get some free publicity by making Andrej the face (and chest) of their new campaign.

If so, then the mission has just been accomplished because everybody's been talking about the gorgeous male model.

I think this is awesome. Not only does it help challenge hurtful gender norms, I think it should be inspiring for women...it isn't about "stealing" a woman's job (which is an absurd statement to begin with: why can only women be models for women products?). If anything, I would think that a man modelling women's clothing would be helpful in shattering the standards of beauty in this world.

I have so much respect for him/her...it actually makes me happy to think that people can maybe accept this and not just think it is "gross" or "evil"; it makes me think that maybe our society isn't as full of hate as I thought.

But still...modelling itself is kind of a shady, shallow industry...but at least his presence adds some depth and maybe will help people be a bit more tolerant to the fact that gender is not always static or simply binary.
