Jacque Montague Raymer, the lead developer and founder of the MakuluLinux distribution based on the world's most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, had the pleasure of announcing the release of MakuluLinux 9 Xfce.

MakuluLinux 9 Xfce is now available for download and is distributed in two different flavors, a normal one that includes all the great features that have been implemented in MakuluLinux over the years, and a Lite edition that has almost no software packages installed.

According to the release notes, MakuluLinux 9 Xfce is currently based on the Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system, uses Ubuntu's Linux kernel 3.13, and is built around the lightweight Xfce 4.12 desktop environment.

"MakuluLinux Kicks off the 9 Series with Xfce, which comes in 2 flavors. A normal Edition and a Lite edition," says Jacque Montague Raymer. "This new Series Improves greatly on the 8 series and provides Much more stability and functionality."

Both UEFI and non-EFI system are supported

As with any other MakuluLinux distro that has been released in the last months, MakuluLinux 9 Xfce can be installed on both UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) and non-EFI systems. This version is compatible with computers running either a 32-bit or 64-bit processor.

Among other features implemented in the new Xfce edition of MakuluLinux, we can mention built-in Live streaming capabilities, dual menus, A2DP support, Wine and PlayOnLinux for installing Windows apps, Steam for Linux for playing games, built-in firewall and antivirus software, support for Nvidia, AMD, and Intel graphics cards.

All MakuluLinux fans can download the brand new MakuluLinux 9 Xfce distribution right now via Softpedia or directly from the project's website. There, you will find two Live DVD ISO images that contain software packages optimized only for the 64-bit hardware platforms.
