Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be surprise guest judge on DWTS next week, for the semi-finals

Maksim Chmerkovskiy left ABC’s hit television show Dancing With the Stars in February this year because he’d taken up a gig on Broadway and couldn’t fit the show’s rehearsals in his schedule anymore. For Monday only, fans will have him back.

However, inside sources say for TMZ, Maks won’t return on the show as a pro dancer but as a guest judge, sitting next to Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman and Carrie Ann Inaba for the semi-finals. The appearance will be a “surprise,” claims the report.

In other words, this could be regarded as a promotion for the former DWTS pro dancer, one that Julianne Hough, who’s also been on the show as a dancer, has already enjoyed a couple of weeks ago.

Maks was quite controversial on the show in his time, often getting some of the warmest praises but the harshest criticism as well. He was replaced by his brother Val, who is also a pro dancer.
