14 DAY TRIAL // Now that Jennifer Lopez is single again, after 2 years of dating backup dancer Casper Smart, fans are wondering who her rebound guy will be, given that it’s a known fact that she can’t stay single for too long. Late last week, one rumor in particular had her and DWTS dancing pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy as showbiz’s hottest item.
A couple of days after the rumor broke, Jennifer herself denied it on Twitter, saying she wasn’t seeing anyone at the moment. But celebrities are known to lie about their romantic interests, particularly when they’re in the early stages of a relationship, because they don’t want the world to know all the details until they know for certain that it’s going to work.
Page Six believes that this is the case here, which means that JLo and Maks do have a little fling going on. The problem right now is the kind of interest word of the romance generated online, because this pro dancer is said to have been spooked by it.
Apparently, Maks is one of those guys who want as little attention from the media as possible.
“The romance between Jennifer Lopez and Maksim Chmerkovskiy may be over before it got started. Sources say Maks, traveling in India till Wednesday, has been spooked by all the media attention the budding relationship received,” Page Six writes.
“It would be a turnoff to anyone. It’s already gotten too over-the-top,” an inside source is quoted as saying.
Which isn’t to say that they’re not dating anymore, but it’s pretty close.
Even assuming there’s some truth to the report, chances are Jennifer will be keeping this romance under wraps for a while longer because, right now, the focus should be on her music and not on her personal life.
She has a new album out, “A.K.A,” and plenty of surprises for fans, including countless promotional appearances. Even if she and Maks are a thing, they will probably not get to spend too much time together right now, let alone make their public debut as a couple.
The two met in late 2013, during rehearsals for the American Music Awards 2013, where Jennifer Lopez performed an elaborate Celia Cruz tribute. Maks was one of her backup dancers and got to lift her above his head at the end of the routine, toss her in the air, and then catch her in his arms. He later called that “the most stressful 4 seconds” of his life.
