Just as painters use the canvas to express themselves, Promise Tamang Phan uses her face to transform herself in practically anyone she wishes to be, whether a celebrity or a fictitious character. Below are some of her videos.
Promise is a makeup artist but, unlike others of the kind, she insists she's completely self-taught.
Whether that's really the case or not isn't even that important, because what matters is that she manages to do such a fine job at transforming herself into an entirely different person.
Since her skill is so extraordinary, not few are those who admire her for her work, which is considered pure art, albeit temporary.
“Her YouTube channel, on which she uses the handle dope2111, has clocked over 96million views and won over 585,000 subscribers since she first logged on in June, 2009,” British tabloid the Daily Mail informs.
“And while she has uploaded every day make-up tutorials at the request of her fans, Promise's transformation videos are what have catapulted her into an elite stratosphere of YouTube celebrities,” adds the same media outlet.
“The blogger has in a short span become a standout, not only for her make-up talents, but for her uncanny ability to embody the persona of her subjects,” the Mail further writes.
Indeed, she can do both celebrities and cartoon characters. Below are just three of her most popular videos and, if you have about 15 minutes to spare, we'd say they're worth your time – if only to see what smartly applied makeup can do.
The first one is of Promise transforming herself into Angelina Jolie – and anyone can agree that this is no small feat.
Many women have tried to emulate the A-list actress but, truth be told, few were able to do it so spectacularly like Promise.
The second video is of her transformation into Mona Lisa, again no easy task. The third shows Promise becoming Drake.
