Wapple makes it possible for anyone from now on to create a personal web page. All that users have to give in return is the right for the company to place advertising on the site.

The concept of free website hosting is nothing new when it comes to PCs. As mobile phones are reaching even more evolved performances, services are developing towards meeting the user's needs. Having a personal website which can be viewed on a huge number of handsets is a concept which few people have considered.

Wapple has taken even further the idea of a blog, making it possible for someone to dispose of an entire website to design and customize himself/herself. There are several templates and a step-by-step design wizard meant to make this process as simple as possible for the user. There is also a Delivery Engine for making sure that the site is configured for best display on a mobile phone.

"The Wapple ad-funded model not only removes all the barriers to creating an essential mobile presence by making it quick, easy and free, it also allows anyone to create a highly functional, professional, mobile-search ready site that looks good and actually works properly on some 5,000 mobile devices including PDAs, the Sony PSP and new iPhone", said Rich Holdsworth, CTO at Wapple.

Those who do not agree with providing an advertising space for Wapple to deduct the costs for this process will have to pay for a small fee for the Delivery Engine when the site goes live. For this price, the user will also have to benefit from integrated billing and additional Wapple Canvas packages.

Wapple's solution is compatible with mobile devices which support rich optimised WML, HTML, XHTML, CHTML content through their 3G, iMode, GPRS and GSM networks as well as Wireless Lan.
