Use your preferred apps on the go with no installation

Diversity is also encountered when in a virtual space, such as the computer. In other words, there are tons of different applications that serve the same purpose, just like your web browser. When using a different PC, chances are apps you prefer are not installed.

There’s also the possibility to find apps you frequently use under portable versions, which means you can run them without the need to go through a setup process. This lets you store them on a USB Flash drive to use on other PC’s as well.

Luckily, developers came out with solutions that capture all changes performed during an installation and try to make them possible within any operating system. With a little research on the web, you can find out how this is done, just like we exemplify in the following steps.

Creating a portable app

Step 1: Download Cameyo.

Step 2: Make sure the application you want to make portable is not installed.

Step 3: Run Cameyo and select capture installation.

Step 4: After a snapshot is taken of your system, a prompt appears with an Install Done button. Don’t press it.

Step 5: Install the application you want to make portable, without closing the Cameyo prompt.

Step 6: When setup is finished, press Install Done, and wait for Cameyo to take another snapshot.

Step 7: Follow the link to the package directory, and press OK to make the prompt disappear.

Step 8: Copy the file to a USB Flash drive. The new package must have .cameyo.exe in the name.

Important Note: Make sure no other application or unnecessary service is running when capturing an application. This is because all changes to your system are recorded, including network activity, so not even your web browser can make an exception.

Notice that when running Cameyo, multiple options are made available. Packages can be edited in order to allow or deny access to disk and system files. Make sure you know what you’re doing, because some applications strictly rely on such permissions, which might lead to functionality issues if settings are improperly managed.
