The virtual keyboard will allow for speedier text input

For all those wishing for a more intuitive typing on a tablet, the Dryft virtual keyboard might be the right answer. Randy Marsden, co-founder of Swype, is the master mind behind Dryft. The Verge reports he believes that even if you can swipe around on a tablet, you can’t input more that 40-45 words a minute.

But most people can type faster than that and Marsden has designed this virtual keyboard so users can manage to type up to 80 words per minute.

His solution? Moving around the keyboard’s keys to where the user thinks they are actually located. Place your fingers just as you would when typing on a regular keyboard.

Dryft will detect where you have placed your fingers and adjust accordingly. This is possible because Dryft works in concert with the tablet’s accelerometer.

The virtual keyboard is not yet available for consumers, but a beta version will most likely be out at the beginning of next year. An official launch will follow.
