HTTPS Everywhere, a Firefox and Chrome extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making the browsing more secure, is now at version 3.0.

HTTPS Everywhere 3.0 is the product of a collaboration between The Tor Project and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Their goal is simple, to secure the entire Internet. Although this goal is far from achieved, the developers of HTTPS Everywhere are getting closer to it by the minute.

This latest version of the extension adds encryption protection to 1,500 more websites, twice as many as previous stable releases.

So far, HTTPS Everywhere is used by 2.5 million people around the world, and the extension should encrypt at least a hundred billion page views in the next year, and trillions of individual HTTP requests. At least his is the estimate of the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
