Valve has released a new stable version of its Steam client, incorporating all the changes and new features that have been poured in the previous Beta versions.

The company usually pushes a few Beta updates before upgrading the stable branch of Steam, and now it's time for a stable build to be available for download.

After the big update that was released just a short while ago, Valve has already outed a new stable build that seems even bigger.

Valve didn't give up of its original client, even if the company is hard at work on a new operating system. This is clearly visible from the number of changes implemented.

Highlights of the latest Steam for Linux client update:

• The Linux version of Steam now waits for the network to connect before the auto-login kicks in; • All the supported locales have been fixed so that the client can be used in the Daisy Wheel; • A fix has been implemented so that Daisy Wheel defaults to the correct language, after the language is changed; • The ability to control system audio devices in Big Picture, via the Audio option under Settings, has been added on Steam for Linux; • Family Features has been renamed to better disambiguate between Family Library Sharing and Family View; • A case where reconnecting to Steam would cause the client to switch back into Family View has been fixed; • The application will now show “invalid file system” if a game tries to install files larger than 4GB on FAT32 partitions; • The “View Community Hub” item is now visible in a game's context menu “go to the game hub,” if it's available; • When installing a game, it is put at the end of the download queue instead of the front; • “NoBigPicture” dialogs are now showing the correctly localized strings; • The “start in Big Picture” setting is automatically cleared if Big Picture fails to launch. One of the “No Big Picture” dialogs is shown so that the next launch will start with the desktop UI.
