A cybercriminal nicknamed LuCkY from the Indian hacker collective Indishell managed to deface dawn.com, the biggest Pakistani news site. While the main page remains unharmed, a subdomain hosts a picture and a message from the attacker.

“Mod_security At High Level, 56 alexa in Pakistan , 3,500 worldwide , Pakistan's biggest news portal. Dedicated server , 24/7 support, VIP information , Honey pots. But Still Failed To Keep Me out of your b0x. Nothing Personal, Just wanted to check if am still the same and EPIC y0u got owned,” states the hacker on the defaced page.

The attacker also published some database information from the website, including names and passwords.

Like any cyberattacks that take place between India and Pakistan, LuCkY stated his opinion on the matter of the highly debated Kashmir area.

“You Wont get kashmir by hacking sites lol , Kashmir is ours will be,” he said.

At press time, archives.dawn.com is still down, proudly hosting the page created by the hacker.

In related news, the hacker known as D35Mond142 managed to breach for the second time the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, an institution that belongs to the Pakistani government.

“Hacked again by D35Mond142. You haven’t yet fixed the bug. It is the same,” wrote the attacker in a Pastebin file along with some database and table names.

D35Mond142 is also responsible for hacking MySQL.com on December 2, leaking email addresses, usernames and passwords of members and administrators of Planet MySQL.

During the same period he also breached the defense systems of the Urbino University in Italy and the Universal Language & Computer Institute in Nepal.

“I'm a hacker, not a computer criminal, I study and attack the network to induce the administrators to improve it. My attacks are NEVER malicious purposes,” he wrote at the time.
