Major League Gaming, the biggest eSports league in the video game world, says that it has seen a growth of 334 percent in viewers who used live streaming video to see the action at its various events.

More than 11.7 million unique viewers have logged in to see the 2012 MLG Pro Circuit Championships and other events pushed the number of video hours spend online to 15 million.

The MLG also says that the demographics of those watching the streams are dominated by young males with significant income levels.

Sundance DiGiovanni, the chief executive officer at Major League Gaming, states, “MLG’s 334% growth in live online audience this year surpasses growth demonstrated by traditional sports. This is a testament to the mainstream demand for competitive gaming and power of live streaming.”

He adds, “The last two years have been the largest in MLG’s 10-year history with over 636% growth in live viewers. I only expect that growth to continue in 2013.”
