Video game publisher 2K Sports has announced that the simulation Major League baseball 2K12 is set to witness the return of the 1 Million Dollars Perfect Game Challenge, which will now feature a final stage of eight players who will have to play live for the ultimate prize.

The challenge starts up on April 4, the official opening day for the current baseball season, when gamers can compete for a spot in the final live tournament by getting one of the top spots on a dynamic leaderboard which will be live until the end of April.

2K Sports has also made it easier for players to submit their scores, only requiring them to log into the official site of the company and submit an unique code in order to see their performance registered and entered into the contest.

2K has not yet announced the details of the live finals event but will do so before the official challenge starts in early April.

Jason Argent, who is the vice president of marketing at 2K Sports, stated, “With the Perfect Game Challenge firmly entrenched in the culture of sports gaming, we’re thrilled to introduce several new twists that can only take the contest to the next level of competitive excitement and open it up to more people. The contest has been incredibly popular the past two years, but there’s always room for improvement. We listened to user feedback and made participation more fun and accessible than ever before.”

Brian Kingrey, who has won the contest in 2011 with Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies, added, “Winning $1 Million for being the first to pitch a perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K11 was an unreal experience. I can’t wait to watch the competition unfold and see who will join me and Major League Baseball 2K10 winner, Wade McGilberry, in what’s becoming the coolest fraternity in sports gaming. We like to call it ‘The Perfect Club.’”

Major League Baseball 2K12 is set to be launched on March 6, giving players about one month to practice before the big challenge.
