Rachel Crow is out of X Factor USA, after the decision for the elimination went to deadlock. While her time on the show will be a cherished memory for her supporters, her departure will also be remembered by many, especially since she had such a hard time coming to terms with it.

Video of the elimination is below – and it more than confirms that allowing young contestants on the show wasn't necessarily such a brilliant idea because not many are prepared for rejection.

Rachel Crow, for those who don't know, is just 13.

The other night, the 4 judges on the panel had to choose between Rachel and Marcus Canty. Each of the four stressed what a difficult decision this was, but none had such a hard time with it as Nicole Scherzinger.

Presented with the choice to send Marcus home or send the decision to deadlock, Nicole opted for the latter, even if that meant saying she wanted to see Rachel go home.

Deadlock means that the judges lose their decision-making power and that the contest plays out according to public votes. In this particular occasion, they were not in favor of the 13-year-old girl.

As host Steve Jones announces the name of the person sent home, Rachel has a brief moment when she doesn't yet realize that everything actually is over for her.

When she does, she simply lets herself drop to the floor and starts wailing, prompting a swift intervention from her mentor Simon Cowell, who steps on the stage and positions himself between Rachel and the camera.

Her mother is by his side in almost an instant, while Rachel is heard crying out, “Mommy, you promised me!”

At the judges table, Nicole is also crying in desperation and appears to be unable to utter a single word even when she too comes to the stage. Perhaps the booing from the audience also prevents her from saying anything.

All this time, Steve doesn't know what to do – and cuts to the footage showing Rachel's time on the show.

After it plays, the girl seems to have regained her composure to a certain extent and is able to thank those who had voted for her until that moment, and who'd made it possible for her to enjoy such a wonderful experience.

“I just love you so much, everybody, for voting for me even though you didn't and thank you for giving me this because without you I am nothing,” she said.

She doesn't need to worry. Remember Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, and Clay Aiken? None of them were winners but look at where they are now!

"mommy you promise me?" was a question to "you will be alright"!

While I love Marcus Canty, Rachel Crow should not have been sent home. The format of this show is absurd... putting the fate of the contestants in the hands of the judges... which turns out to be a self-centered effort by each judge and a fake drama each week. Further, rapping is not singing and should not be allowed in the competition. The show continues to degrade into how tawdry the performances can be. When will we put good taste back in the media?

nicole should never be allowed to judge again on x factor, to be a judge you must make a decision!

nicole needs to grow a pair...this is about competeing and the acts that do this are expecting her to be fair. she dropped the ball here. that's why there should be five judges with the fifth being a person independent from the rest. with that being said and the situation being what it is...the viewers voted ms. crow off and NOT nicole.
Ms. crow will be fine from all i have read and hopefully this will make her stronger. the blessing is that disney will be sooooo good for her and i wish her the best. her voice will get stronger and hopefully another Christina Ag. is in the works! "i am beautiful" by christina ag. is her battle cry now.

rachel crow should have made it to the top 2!!!!!!!! and Nicole is a freakin coward and should not be a judge she is a straight no good for nothing coward. Someone should protest the show if Chris Rene was not in it then I wouldn't waste my time watching it. Rachel Crow was the reason that caught my eye to watch the stupid show in the first place. Cant wait to see or hear her become famous I will continue to support her.

It is a shame that the judges elimate the people, not based on their talent; rather they eliminate people because of whose team they are on. The last chance song, rachel clearly dominated the performance. However, Nicole didn't have the heart or ability to say, "Rachel, you did a better job in the final last chance song...girl, you are the winner.

I am not impressed by the judges. The age of the contestant is not an issue when they have such raw talent. The judges act younger than the youngest contestants. It was not fair to Drew last week and Rachel this week. Clearly they performed better than what the female judges could say! Very disapointing
