Majesco is announcing that it is preparing to release another Cooking Mama game in 2008. It is entitled Cooking Mama World Kitchen and is only being developed for the Nintendo Wii gaming console. The aim is to get the game out to players in time for the holiday season, which, for videogame publishers, begins sometime in October and last all the way to January.

The new title is set to be a major change for the now very popular Cooking Mama franchise. The game has seen PC, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii iterations, and, more importantly for a trend setting game, has spawned countless imitators which aim to provide the same engrossing gameplay mechanics while changing the setting. The success of the series has prompted Majesco to think of a way to create a game that feels new and interesting while maintaining the appeal of the previous installments.

Cooking Mama World Kitchen is going to get rid of the old school, hand drawn appearance of the previous titles and go for a new and much improved 3D visual scheme which will allow it to be more detailed and interesting.

The game is called World Kitchen for good reason. The recipes are now more varied, with all cultures providing inspiration to the developers. The rhythm cooking concept is still there but new mini-games are being added in an effort to provide more content. For example, if a recipe ends in disaster, the game does not end immediately but rather offers the player the possibility to salvage the recipe by way of a new game.

Jesse Sutton, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Majesco, stated that "The Cooking Mama franchise continues to be a best seller at more than two million units sold to date. (?) Mama's newest iteration, Cooking Mama World Kitchen, builds on this success with a host of feature enhancements that improve the cooking experience and deliver more of the unique personality that has made Mama such an endearing video game character".
