With the launch of Intel’s next generation desktop processors, codenamed Nehalem, almost every major PC maker has rushed to announce its own implementation of the Core i7 processors. However, some of the most high-end desktops have probably been developed by computer makers that are less known worldwide, as these companies try to provide users with the highest-performance rigs on the market. Such is the case with MAINGEAR, a PC manufacturer that has recently announced its latest F131 and ePhex desktop computer systems, coming to deliver the computing power of Intel’s latest Core i7 and Core i7 Extreme processors.

"We’re proud to be an Intel launch partner," says Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of MAINGEAR Computers. "This revolutionary new chip is going to change the way people look at multitasking. It really puts your processing power where you need it most. Our F131 and ePhex lines will benefit from the ability to take on highly-threaded games with HyperThreading support across 8 cores. Also, it’s anyone’s game with either CrossFireX or SLI support on the same platform."

Both systems have been designed on the only platform that can currently support Intel’s highest performance processors, namely the X58/ICH10R, codenamed Tylersburg. Both configurations can be equipped with a maximum of 12GB of high-performance low latency triple channel DDR3 memory and a choice of either an NVIDIA 3-way SLI or an ATI Quad CrossFireX graphics configuration. One of the main differences between the two MAINGEAR systems is the cooling technology used for each one, with the ePhex being featured with a MAINGEAR X20 Liquid-Cooling system (supporting both CPU and GPU), while the F131 boasts an Asetek Liquid Cooling System designed to support just the CPU.

"We developed the Intel Core i7-965 processor Extreme Edition from the ground up to be a PC enthusiast’s dream," says CJ Bruno, vice president, Sales and Marketing Group and president, Intel Americas, Inc. "The MAINGEAR ePhex featuring the highest performing desktop processor on the planet is especially beneficial to customers using high definition video, 3D and gaming.  We have spent years researching what power users do with their computers and are happy to deliver the latest tools to achieve awesome PC performance."
