14 DAY TRIAL // Well-known vendor of high-end gaming notebooks and desktops, Maingear has formally introduced a quartet of quickship mobile PCs called Vybe 15.
That is to say they really are just different hardware configurations of the same notebook: Good, Better, Best and Ultimate.
We would weep for the fact that the “best” no longer means the best nowadays, if we thought it would make any difference.
Anyway, for those who don't know exactly what quickship notebooks are, they are the sort of mobile PCs that don't need customers to spend too long picking through hardware options.
The PCs also ship in one or two days, instead of a week, hence the nickname.
A final advantage of quickship notebooks is that they are fairly safe purchases for even consumers without tech know-how.
That said, Vybe 15 – Good pairs an Intel Core i5-3360M CPU with 8 GB of DDR3-1333 MHz (from Corsair). A 500 GB HDD (7,200 RPM) and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete GPU (2 GB GDDR5 VRAM).
Vybe 15 – Better gets a Core i7-3520M CPU, 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, a 750 GB HDD and the same video card as above.
Vybe 15 – Best boasts a Core i7-3720OM, the same 8GB Vengeance RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 660M (2 GB) and, in addition to the 720 GB HDD, a 128 GB mSATA SSD.
Finally, Vybe 15 – Ultimate offers a Core i7-3820QM CPU, 16 GB of DDR3-1600 Corsair Vengeance RAM, NVIDIA's GTX 660M 2 GB GDDR5, a 256 GB mSATA SSD and a 750 GB SATA HDD.
