Following news of ASUS' supercomputing-focused desktop computer system, it appears that yet another PC vendor has decided to debut its own personal supercomputer. We are talking here about Maingear, a custom PC builder, that has just announced the introduction of its new Shift system.

A configurable desktop PC, it  has been built for one purpose, to provide its users with the combined performance offered by the latest hardware components on the market. Mixing Intel's latest Core i7 processors with graphics cards from either NVIDIA or AMD, and high-end SSD solutions for an enhanced storage support, the new system incorporates all of these options into a highly-efficient and stylish design.

“The SHIFT bucks the trend of plastic, bloated, commodity PCs. It's a statement of our commitment to performance, reliability, and support,” said Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of MAINGEAR. “Featuring vertical airflow, all the cooling necessary for today's high performance, and backed by the best technical support team in the business, MAINGEAR is committed to maintaining our lead in the market. The SHIFT Personal Supercomputer is positioned to take advantage of all the next generation technology in GPU computing to greatly enhance the customer experience.”

Built inside an elegant aluminum chassis, the Shift supercomputer provides users with configuration options that include Intel's Core i7 and Core i7 Extreme processors, in addition to ATI Eyefinity and NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. The system also incorporates the latest SSD storage solutions and is powered by 80+ certified efficient power supplies, to offer users the ultimate stability and performance, when running performance-demanding applications.

Maingear's Shift system also adopts a liquid-cooling solution for improved cooling efficiency and an overall quieter environment. All of the aforementioned components can be paired with Kingston's HyperX DDR3-2000 memory, working at speeds of up to 2000MHz. With a base price of US$2,199, the new system is configurable and available for purchase through the company's website.
