It's like watching one of those weird Sci Fi flicks of the previous century

We've seen lots of strange things, some weirder than others, but the truly bizarre usually only turn up in fiction.

There are exceptions though, like the Magnetic Putty that likes to eat magnets. Rare-earth magnets to be precise.

Scott Lawson has posted a video on YouTube, in which he shows how a rare-earth magnetic cube is drawn in and eaten by the putty monster. It's like watching an amoeba.

Sadly, the real-life process isn't half as exciting as the video. The film was recorder at 3 FPS (frames per second) but is played at 24 FPS.

That is to say, the putty ate the cube much more slowly than the video depicts the process.

Nevertheless, we aren't about to complain in front of such an interesting video less than a minute long.

For those wondering how this works, the ferromagnetic particles in the putty are strongly attracted to the neodymium iron boron magnet, both because of its own properties and the strength of the magnet itself (the magnet is strong enough to erase magnetic stripes found in credit cards and damage electronics).
