Those wishing to enhance the capabilities of their phone camera have a reason to rejoice, as they can now attach magnetic mount lenses to it. The functionality of the camera can be improved by adding one of the three available lenses: Wide Angle Lens, Fish Eye Lens or Marco Lens.
The list of the devices the new accessories can be used with includes iPhone 1st Gen / iPhone 3G, HTC Dream / T-Mobile G1, NDS DS-i, Mobilephone / PDA / Smartphone.

The lenses allow users to simply attach them to the back of the phone, without making the handset look too bulky. The only device that might have some problems is the iPhone 3G, which features a plastic back and would require a self-adhesive ring with a magnet affixed to the area around the camera. No worries though, as all the needed accessories, including a keychain strap, come in the package along with the lenses.

The best part about these magnetic lenses is the fact that they can also be used with some notebook computers and digital cameras that feature the appropriate size. The specification list of the lenses shows that they are made of high-class glass, which enables users to take high-clarity shots. Moreover, they are also strong, being manufactured from top-grade Aluminum.

The magnetic lenses are able to widen the viewing angle of the camera by 0.67X. As for construction, they are made of two elements in two groups. The diameter of a lens, which weighs no more than 4.2g, measures 20mm, while its length is of 11.2mm. Those willing to acquire such add-on lenses should first make sure that their handset is compatible with the accessories.

The price of the magnetic mount lenses is set at $16.99, and they can be purchased from usbfever.

For iPhone 3G, why not just have a case made where the ring is embedded in the back of the case. No need for adhesive, and most users want a case anyway. So far Griffin's solution, iClarity's been a good one - and this could add more value and interest.
