Ralph Baer, who is the main creative force behind the creation of the Magnavox Oddysey, has said that he regrets the direction that the entertainment medium he created has been following in the past few years.

Speaking to The Salt Lake Tribute the developer, who is now 89 years old, has stated, “I think it's a disgrace. What I created got abominated. You can see the same thing in music, literature, art - any form of art. Could I project how far this thing was going to go? The answer is obviously no.”

He added, “Nobody realised, even at that time, that we were on this geometric curve... that would go straight up to heaven. It was unforeseeable; it was fantastic. I'm glad it happened. And if I hadn't had started it, someone else would have.”

The Magnavox was introduced in 1972 and offered a primitive tennis titles that some say inspired the creation of Pong about five years later.
