Defense of the Ancients aka DotA is one of the most popular custom made maps for Warcraft III with the Frozen Throne addon. For a better understanding of this complex and sometimes intricate game here is a hero guide.

Magina is probably one of the easiest hard-carry heroes in the game. While team play is not his strong point, try to remember that a farmed Magina is a terrifying Magina! You can find this hero at the Sentinel's Agility tavern.

He even comes with a very cool background story: "twin sons to the great Prophet, Terrorblade and Magina were blessed with divine powers.

Terrorblade granted with an unnatural affinity with life forces; Magina gifted with energy manipulation. Magina's eventual overexposure to the magics gradually augmented his elemental resistances and bestowed him the unique ability to move faster than light itself.

Now, broken by Terrorblade's fall to the dark side, Magina answers the Sentinel's call in a desperate bid to redeem his brother.

Every bitter strike turns the Scourge's evil essences upon themselves, culminating in a finale that forces his enemy to awaken to the void within and spontaneously implode."

Magina is a nuker/mage worst nightmare as you'll be able to see from the two active skill and two passive ones:

- Mana Break (shortkey R): each attack will dissipate mana based on spell level. This Orb Effect spell burns 28/40/52/64 mana and deals 17/24/31/38 damage in one single hit! This is in my oppinion one of the best orbs around!

- Blink (shortkey B): this is a short distance teleportation that allows one to move in and out of combat. It has a various range depending on level: from 200-1000 to 200-1150 while it's delay reduces from 12 to 9/7/5.

What most carries lack is an escape-skill. Not the Anti-Mage, who has a great one. With only one level of this you have a range of 1000 which makes it superior to others, like Queen of Pain's blink. Keep in mind that if you blink above maximum range you will blink 4/5 of the range.

- Spell Shield (shortkey D): Magina learns to protect himself with an anti-magic shield that will increase his resistance to magic damage: 26%/34%/42%/50%.

This is what makes you an anti-caster, while taking hardly no damage from spells you can whack heroes and burn their mana. And the best of all is that it stacks with other magic reducing items.

- Mana Void (shortkey V): will create a powerful void in an enemy unit caused by a lack of mana. For each mana point missing, the unit takes damage 0.6/0.85/1.1 per mana point missing. Damage is calculated based on the primary target's mana, but applied to all enemies within 325 AoE of the target.

Anti-Mage has one very important role, and that's carrying. Although he can gang very good with a team-mate, his job is to stay in lane and farm as much as possible.

As hint, try to pick blink as a first skill. It will come in handy if anything goes wrong. Also this hero has little HP so a Vanguard and a Vladmir's Offering are very good choices for early game. They can be sold later on.

In late game attack speed and maybe bash will be of a real aid. If you have any other suggetions please let all the DotA fans know in a comment.
