The development team at Paradox North and publisher Paradox Interactive announce that their player versus player focused online spellcasting sim Magicka: Wizard Wars now has access to a new map for gamers to battle on and that a new referral program has been introduced to the title.

The new map is called Displacement Ridge and features a range of teleporters that can quickly move players from one point to another, which means that a new set of strategies are needed for those who want to take out their opponents.

Magicka: Wizard Wars asks gamers to match elements in order to create powerful or weird spells, and worrying about teleporting will add another layer of tactical concerns to an already complex title.

At the same time, the developers are introducing a new referral program for the title, which allows gamers to bring their friends into the game so that they can earn access to a variety of rewards.

At the moment, Magicka is being played by more than half a million gamers, according to Paradox Interactive, and the new system kicks in once a new player downloads the free game client and reaches an experience threshold.

The company adds, “Wizard Wars has recently introduced Daily Treasure Chests which grant Wizards new rewards every single day. When opening a chest, players have the chance to nab additional coins for in-game purchases, crystals to unlock new Magicks, or even the rare chance to win a new, random robe.”

A full Magicka sequel is in development and will arrive on the PC and the PlayStation 4.
