Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalker is finally making its appearance on the PC through Steam, Valve's digital distribution platform. The game was very successful on Xbox Live Arcade, gathering quite a big following and sparking new interest in the famous trading card game. Two expansions were released that brought new challenges, decks and cards for fans to enjoy.

The pre-loading of the downloadable title will start on the 1st of June, with the full version coming live soon after. It will be integrated with Steamworks, which translates into auto-updating, Steam Achievements, online leaderboards, downloadable content and multiplayer matchmaking. This new digital installment of Magic: The Gathering - Duels will be priced at 9.99 dollars, including the first expansion pack for free as a special offer to PC gamers.

Magic: The Gathering is the venerable trading card game produced by the famous company Wizards of the Coast that puts players in the shoes of powerful mages, who battle using cards that represent spells and summoned creatures. The game has become a very popular activity for fantasy fans because of its rich backstory and strategically complex and diverse gameplay. New sets of cards are usually launched with accompanying novels, giving the players' matches background and context.

Duels of the Planeswalkers is one of the two digital versions of MTG currently available. It features more streamlined gameplay, with the interface taking care of the rules and resources, while the players focus on what cards to use to win the battle. The decks of cards are pre-constructed, relieving the users from this task too. It features a Campaign mode, where one can win new decks and cards, and a Challenge mode. However, the main attraction is the online multiplayer mode that lets up to four people engage in casual or ranked matches.
