The new release date has been set for May 18, but it's not a certainty

Mageia 3, a GNU/Linux-based free operating system that started its life as a fork of Mandriva Linux and which is supported by a nonprofit organization of elected contributors, has been delayed and it will miss the official release date.

The Mageia 3 have decided to postpone the release of their operating system because it's plagued with bugs and problems.

“We still have some release blocker bugs to fix, meaning bugs which cannot be fixed after release through updates. They are mainly to do with the installer, hardware detection and the installation media.

“We could say ‘Mageia will be released when it’s ready’ but we would look like a copycat,” reads the official announcement.

The new release date for Mageia 3 has been pushed back until May 18, but it's not set in stone. In the meantime, you can download the latest Mageia 3 RC.
