Mafia II, the latest installment in the open world series, will get its third downloadable expansion around the end of November, in the form of a new DLC called Joe's Adventures.

Mafia II has been launched a few months ago, and even though it wasn't extremely liked for the "closed" open world it created, feeling more like a linear story than an open one as seen in titles like Gran Theft Auto IV, it still managed to capture the hearts of many players.

The game already received two pieces of downloadable content, which expanded the story of the title, one exclusive to the PlayStation 3, called Jimmy's Betrayal, and one available to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, called Jimmy's Vendetta.

Now, the game's developer, 2K Czech, and its publisher, 2K Games, will be releasing a new downloadable content package, entitled Joe's Adventures, on November 23.

The new expansion pack will continue the Mafia II story, and will place players in the very expensive shoes of Joe Barbaro, the best friend of regular protagonist Vito Scaletta.

The action takes place during the prison sentence Vito has to endure, as Joe discovers a few secrets about the prison term and some evil secrets inside the Clemente mob family.

Joe's Adventures will take players into new places and areas inside Empire Bay, the fictional city where the action of the game takes place.

The title was pretty well received, but players weren't too fond of the fact that you couldn't explore many of the beautifully designed areas of Empire City without facing off against the police or being forced into a story sequence.

Mafia II will get the Joe's Adventures DLC on November 23, when it will be launched on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Steam, for either 800 MS Points or 10 dollars, depending on the online service.
