14 DAY TRIAL // A new version of the Maemo 5 SDK is now available for download, yet it seems that it comes only as an early access version of the SDK update 5, and that it includes a series of known issues, which are expected to be fixed as soon as the final update 5 release is delivered. The new version comes with a wide range of additions, updates and more, as well as with the Qt4.6 library.
“An early access version of the Maemo 5 SDK update 5 is available. This version of the SDK provides developers with the a preview of the software delivered in the fourth software update to the Nokia N900 mobile computer (version 10.2010.09-3). For developer, the main feature of the update is the inclusion of Qt 4.6.2,” a recent post on Nokia Forum notes.
The release notes of Maemo 5 SDK Update 5 include the following: - SDK content updates - Tools content updates - The updated packages are found in the the final SDK repository itself. - SDK GUI installer updates - Qt version was changed to 4.6.2 assistant, designer, help, qt4-dev-tools and qt3support packages were removed from the SDK. libqt4-core-translations package is now called libqt4-translations. Also libqt4-opengl-dev does not exist anymore, but libqt4-dev provides all the header files now. - The eventlogger library was upgraded and the eventlogger API is no longer compatible with the Update 4 or earlier implementation. - Browser engine updates
The Maemo 5 SDK comes with the necessary tools for developers willing to build applications for Nokia mobile phones with are running under the Maemo 5 operating system, including the Nokia N900 mobile computer. All the solutions needed for writing, testing, compiling and packaging for distribution Maemo 5 software on Linux based computers are included in the SDK. “It also contains package updates required for software designed for the next Maemo product software update coming out soon,” a post on Maemo team blog notes.
