Madonna did a special appearance on David Letterman the other night and, in between a run for NY pizza and reminiscing of old times when a young Madonna would embarrass herself on the show, she also rubbished reports of wedding plans. She would rather get run over by a train than think of marriage again, not after her last experience, the singer said.

“You were married eight years right?” Letterman tells the Queen of Pop after the introductions. “Yeah – the Bush years. It was a good time to be out of America.” the singer replies with a smile. “That said I do miss things about being married. Being a single parent means you’re in charge of everything. You can’t say, ‘Hey can you give the kids a bath.’ There’s no job sharing.” Madonna adds, right after joking that she would rather be killed by a train than marry again.

Letterman then turns the conversation to address the many rumors on Madonna’s personal and love life since she filed for divorce. Among them, there is also that of her dating sportsman Alex Rodriguez – but, clearly, the singer is in no mood for that, as she carefully tip-toes her way around the subject and eventually refuses to answer the direct question. She does not show the same restraint when it comes to talking of the long-lasting bond she shares with Letterman, going back to an earlier appearance when she called him a “sick [expletive],” revealing she had only done the show because she had “no escape.”

“Every time I’m on the show I feel like a different person. I think I may have made a fool of myself once or twice on your show but it wasn’t because I was excited about you – I think it may have had something to do with the joint I smoked before I came out. Last time I was on I had three kids and I was married and you had one kid and weren’t married.” Madonna says.

After the interview per se, Madonna has joined Letterman to a nearby restaurant, where she has tried New York pizza for the first time in her life. The singer has also stopped to shake hands and pose for pictures for the fans and the media has gathered outside the studio – and has basically had a blast with Letterman. Highlights of her appearance are in the video below. Enjoy.
