Madonna has made her foray into the fashion world as early as May last year but it wasn't until December 2006 that she got to put her own signature on a clothing line, when one of the largest European clothing retailers, H&M, asked her to design her own line, 'M by Madonna'.

Since then, the singer has been actively involved in the creation of the line and in promoting it. Useless to say, her fans were all this time watching and waiting for the creations to be released on the market. After all, it was Madonna the one who created them and who, at the same time, promoted them in all the ads. But that doesn't mean that everybody loves the pop star and her line of clothes.

'M by Madonna' is not your regular celebrity fashion line, first and foremost because its prices are in the range of the average consumer so maybe this should have been the first reason for people to like it. It's not like everyday you have the chance to buy and wear something a star designed and, above all, to look good in. Destined for the active, yet still sexy and elegant woman, 'M by Madonna' was aimed towards women whose personalities and way of life resembled that of the singer's.

Accordingly, Madonna promoted this image of woman in the commercials she shot for H&M and in the many ads she did for them, along with her dancers or members of her entourage. But someone up there (or, rather, down here) doesn't love the Queen or Pop. Or her designs. And this dislike is so great that it prompted that person (or persons) to ruin a 250 square foot poster displayed in London.

The vandals climbed on the scaffold to which the poster was attached, cut a hole under the star's eye and poured neon green paint through it. The result of that was that which you can see in the pictures. Officials for H&M announced that they would be replacing the violated image any day now and that the whole process could amount to the whopping sum of $12,000. Seeing the kind of money we're talking about here, no one has come forward to take credit for the ruining of the gigantic image. Or maybe they're just 'artists' who prefer to go down in history as 'never acknowledged masterminds'...
