Yesterday, the plaque with Madonna's handprints was unveiled, outside the Arena, in what will soon become Hollywood's Walk of Fame correspondent in Britain. The Queen of Pop was the first performer to be thus honored.
The bronze plaque, bearing her name, was custom made and it had to be flown all the way to New York so that she could leave her 'mark' on it.
Madonna took the time to come to the unveiling, before her show at the Wembley Arena. She also received a pair of her own hands to take home and she was very excited to be acknowledged by the British.
'They [the hands] are great, it's a great honor. I did because it makes me feel like an honorary Brit', she told the press after the ceremony. Madonna is to return at Wembley on August 15 and she will play there for seven consecutive dates, while the European leg of her tour will continue.
Quintain Estates, the owners of the Arena said that Madonna is only the first artist to leave her mark in the Square of Fame. They have high hopes that Kylie Minogue and George Michael will also agree to do the same.
Still, 'Madonna is officially the greatest female star in the world and we are delighted that she is the first of what will only be a few major names to be celebrated in the Square of Fame', a spokesperson for Quintain said.
