Being the Queen of Pop comes with its advantages but, at the same time, it could also bring the worst in people, who might be tempted to do the craziest things for a chance to own something of hers. Because of this, Madonna employs the services of a DNA sterilization team.
The report comes in the British tabloid the Daily Mirror
but, unlike others of the kind, it has some ground since it originates in concert promoter Álvaro Ramos, who oversees the Portuguese leg of Madonna's MDNA tour.
According to Ramos, the pop star is very careful about everything she leaves behind in her dressing room backstage and takes extra caution that it doesn't end up in the wrong hands.
One can't imagine why anyone would want to steal strands of her hair or tissues but, since she's making sure no one is, one might assume Madonna knows best.
“In true diva style she set up a 'sterilization team' to wipe away any DNA that may have been dropped in her room on hairs, skin or saliva,” the British publication writes after speaking to Ramos.
No one else but Madonna and her entourage is allowed backstage passes, and no one else but these people are allowed to go near the star's dressing room.
“We have to take extreme care, like I have never seen for any other artist. We cannot even look at the dressing room, after it is ready, or even open the door,” Ramos is quoted as saying.
“We can only enter after her sterilization team has left the room. There will not be any of Madonna’s DNA, any hair, or anything. They will clean up everything,” he explains.
Being an event organizer, Ramos has seen his fair share of diva demands – but this one exceeds them all by a lot.
“In the end it is all to protect her and make her feel comfortable. I do understand it, but it is taken to extremes,” he says.
And these aren't the only measures Madonna takes to ensure her privacy is respected at all costs. To discourage any attempt at filming or otherwise recording her with hidden devices, her team basically builds her new accommodations inside those provided by the organizer.
“Her team will build everything for her, including fake ceilings and fake walls, so they can ensure that no one has hidden a camera somewhere,” says Ramos.
“She is a perfectionist, and expects the best. But then, at her age and with her status, why shouldn’t she?” a source close to Madonna says in her defense.
