Madonna may be an accomplished performer, recording artist and businesswoman but, when it comes to hitting the slopes, she still has a long way to go, recent reports indicate.

The singer, her kids and her much younger boyfriend rang in the New Year in Switzerland, where the entire gang also went skiing on several occasions.

As the Huffington Post puts it, on each of these occasions, the paparazzi were on hand to document the star’s every move or, as it so happens, her every fall. And there were many of those, the e-zine says.

One in particular has gone viral, showing Madonna lying on her belly in the snow after what media reports are calling a faceplant, but which looks more like an “innocent” fall than anything else.

“While vacationing in the resort town of Gstaad, Switzerland, for New Year's, Madonna was caught taking several falls during her skiing attempt in the Swiss Alps,” HuffPo writes.

“The 54-year-old singer, dressed in all black, landed facedown as her 25-year-old boyfriend Brahim Zaibat looked on. Madonna's daughters, 16-year-old Lourdes and 6-year-old Mercy, also braved the slopes, perhaps with greater success. Lourdes was caught on camera effortlessly gliding on a snowboard, while Mercy received help from a private instructor,” adds the same media outlet.

“Perhaps Lourdes can share some tips with Mom. The 16-year-old reportedly fared quite well on some of the more advanced trails, even if the ‘Vogue’ singer couldn't hold her own. Thankfully for us, long-lens-clad paparazzi were on hand to capture Madge's mishap,” the report further says.

The Internet might be having a laugh or two at her expense and her skiing technique (or lack thereof) but Madonna had a lot to smile about in 2012 as well.

MTV reports that she had the highest grossing tour of the year, with ticket sales of $296.1 million (€224.5 million). In other words, some may criticize her and some may make fun of her, but even more love Madonna to death – and everything she might do.
