Madonna has always been hailed as some sort of glamorous chameleon queen. She never hesitated in taking chances with her looks and her approaches to art (music or otherwise) were often shocking and innovative in style and concept - so when she decided to morph (yet again) from an all-American girl into a would-be British style queen, no one doubted she would feel at home in her new skin. However, it would seem that Madonna's "British period" may be over some time in the not-so-near future, as once again there are rumors that the iconic singer's marriage to British film director Guy Ritchie is on the rocks.
Apparently, Madonna is planning to move away from Britain and is currently looking into buying an apartment in New York and relocating there with her children. News of the World reports that divorce is in the cards, but that the singer and her director husband are not planning to make any public announcements for the next year and a half - reportedly while Madonna herself will be promoting her new album "Hard Candy", giving her PR team enough time to come up with a strategy for handling the split and working it into something that will not damage the singer's reputation.
"Madonna and Guy are over. It's all very amicable. They've just fallen out of love with each other", claims the newspaper. "They just think it's for the best as after some great years together they've been going their separate ways. Guy has failed to show up at events which are important to Madge. He just hasn't taken as much interest as he has previously in what she's doing", News of the World also reports.
It's true that Madonna's husband has been notably (and noticeably) absent from a series of events involving his wife in the past months, and while his absence could be an ominous sign, it could also have a legitimate reason that does not involve any family drama of any kind. Madonna and Richie have been dogged by divorce rumors almost since their marriage began, and while many of us originally gave them six months tops, we've all had to reconsider. Stay tuned, and we'll keep you posted.
