Madden NFL 2002 is an American Football video game that features former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper on the cover. The new faces and uniforms on PlayStation 2 look crisper. It was considered the best football game graphically at that time. There are new added things like the Hurry-up offense (two minute drill), a Training Mode hosted by John Madden, Franchise expansion in Franchise Mode, new cheerleader cards and new game modes like tournament and custom league. Most important though, the gameplay was heavily worked on, such as one-handed catches, pass defense, etc.

The title features full NFL license for real players, teams and stadiums, up-to-date statistics and complete seasonal tracking. All new player face and body technology have been implemented, so player and coach faces and body shapes will look even more like their real-life counterparts. Hundreds of new animations have been added, while a new focus on player emotion and high drama has been replayed featuring camera angles a TV broadcast can't capture, such as inside the huddle.

Player Card Bonuses
Collect the player cards in the following ranges for some bonus features in the exhibition mode:

Bonus Stadium - Get the player cards numbered from 233 to 248.

Classic teams - Get the player cards numbered from 249 to 274.

Fantasy team - Get the player cards numbered from 291 to 298.

Madden team - Get the player cards numbered from 275 to 290.

Secrets

Get CPU Opponent Penalized Unlimited Times
During a play, go to the pause menu, go to settings, and then go to controller select. Put the controller in between both teams so neither is selected. And then, resume the game and make sure that when the play is over, you don't see the playbook come up. It should look sort of like you're watching a game. Then, all you do is keep on pausing and resuming the game. The computer will not be able to call a play and the play clock will run down all the way, resulting in a delay of game.

Infinite Creation Points
Create a player, then go to Edit Player. Select the speed Category and then select attributes. When this is done you will have 99 Points maximum in each category.

Special Occasions
For special commentary, set the system date to one of the following dates:

22nd November 2001 - Thanksgiving

25th December - Christmas

1st January - New year
