Madden NFL 2001 is an American Football video game. It is the second in the series to include an NFL player (the first was madden 2000 which featured Dorsey Leavens and Barry Sanders on the cover), Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George, on its cover. Also, an added feature, Madden Cards allows players to perform certain actions during gameplay. Madden NFL is an American football video game series developed by Electronic Arts Tiburon for EA Sports. The game is named after Pro Football Hall of Famer John Madden, a well-known color commentator for NBC Sports and formerly a successful Super Bowl-winning coach during the 1970s with the Oakland Raiders. The game has greatly grown over the years, adding many new features. Among these is voice commentary, allowing players or watchers to hear the game being called as if it were a real game on TV.

The commentary is by John Madden teamed with his regular broadcast partner, which meant Pat Summerall (Madden's partner during his days at CBS and Fox during the early 1990s on through the early 2000s) until he retired; the role is now filled by Al Michaels, John's current broadcast partner on NBC Sunday Night Football (and former partner from 2002 through 2005 on ABC Monday Night Football).

Glitches

Get a sack on almost every passing play
When on defense, look at where the tight end lines up. Take control of the defensive end that is above the tight end and move him to the other side of the defensive line. When the ball is snapped, you'll have a clear path to the quarterback as one offensive tackle cannot block two defensive ends, while the guard on that side won't usually be fast enough to assist. One could easily accumulate well over 100 sacks or more through an entire season via this cheap AI exploit.

If there are no tight ends on offense, simply do this trick with whichever defensive end is faster. The only exception to this trick is when the offense lines up with two tight ends, though the sacks you'll accumulate will easily cancel out the rare times that the offense decides to use a formation able to stop the glitch.

Save money while editing your player
When editing a player, do the stats one by one instead of going into the screen to edit all at the same time. It saves a lot of money. You can create a 91 ranked QB that would've had a $2 million contract but by doing them one by one, he only has a $400,000 contract. Great for franchise mode!
