EA Sports will break the decade-long tradition of offering a free demo 2 weeks in advance

Madden NFL 15, the upcoming iteration in EA's long-standing series of American football video games, won't be getting a free demo this year, breaking the decade-old tradition.

Madden NFL 15 early access will be reserved for those who have signed up for the developer and publisher's recently launched service EA Access, a subscription-based feature exclusive to the Xbox One for the time being.

EA usually offered access to NFL titles around two weeks prior to any of the games' launch, in order to let players try out the game as a demo before committing to a purchase, and it appears that the company has made its choice to break away from tradition.

EA Access will be the only way to try out the game, alongside other upcoming titles in EA's portfolio, including FIFA 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

"The difficult decision not to do a demo for Madden was strictly a result of the team's commitment to deliver the highest quality game possible. We chose to put 100 percent of our development resources toward the full game," EA has said in a statement provided to IGN.

For the time being, EA Access only offers Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Peggle 2 and Madden NFL 25, but the publisher has promised that more titles will be added to The Vault shortly.

Madden NFL 15 is scheduled to come out on August 26 in North America and August 29 in Europe, headed for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.
