So, Electronic Arts is so proud of its Madden series that it's planning to create a spin off product that will only be used to simulate the gamer in the NFL for the purpose of getting huge sums of money put down by the beta players based on the results. At least, that's the idea that players might get after reading the new press release from Electronic Arts in which the publisher is announcing that Madden NFL 09 has just predicted the team that would win the Super Bowl this year.

The game has favored the Pittsburgh Steelers, which are poised to win by 28 to 24 against the Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers will get an unheard of sixth Super Bowl title if the results from Madden NFL 09 hold up in real life. In the game, Ben Roethlisberger has thrown three touchdowns and for that he was named the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, while Mike Tomlin, who coaches the Steelers, has become the youngest coach ever to win the Super Bowl. Let's not forget that this is virtual at the moment. Reality has a knack of being more surprising.

Electronic Arts points out, probably as a means of covering for itself if the real life result turns very different, that the game it simulated was very, very close. The first three quarters were dominated by the Pittsburgh Steelers as the team went on to score 28 points, while the Arizona Cardinal only scored 14. The fourth quarter was very exciting as the Cardinals sought to close the gap and take control of the game.

Madden NFL 09 is the most important game released by EA Sports in 2008 and if the result predicted by the game becomes reality, the burst of publicity will probably lead to a burst in sales for the title, while also generating a buzz amongst those interested in American football for the inevitable sequel, Madden NFL 2010.
