It's really nice to see big companies do something for charities every now and again. It just goes to prove that games aren't all that bad for the community or that they encourage only dangerous behavior. Such is the case now with big game company Electronic Arts, which will release a special edition of their hit football simulator Madden 09. This version will sport a pink ribbon on the cover as a sign of support for the international breast cancer awareness month.

All the profits will go to the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation, a charity which helps women who can't pay for their breast cancer treatments. Deanna Favre is the wife of current cover athlete Brett Favre and has defeated the terrible disease after being diagnosed at the age of 35. After having struggled with the disease, she opened up this foundation to help other women who are suffering from breast cancer.

“EA is honored to team up with Deanna Favre and Target in the fight against breast cancer,” says senior product manager, Anthony Stevenson. “Almost everyone has been affected by this disease in some way, so we’re eager to give our passionate fans an opportunity to participate in finding a cure.”

The special editions will be available only for the Xbox 360, for 59.99 dollars and for the Nintendo Wii, for 49.99 dollars. Buyers can find them only in Target stores or online via the website NFLShop.com. Madden 09 was one of the most anticipated titles of this season, having a great number of fans in all of the United States.

It's really an admirable gesture: breast cancer is a terrible disease and any money which can be used to help patients is more than welcome.
