The new spin-off 3-D platform game Madagascar has hit number one in this week's ELSPA UK games chart, followed by THQ's action game for the PS2 and Xbox, "Destroy All Humans!" and THQ's city-based racing game "Juiced".
Four hilarious Central Park Zoo animals are the main characters of the 3-D platform game, which follows some scenarios from the highly anticipated animated comedy.
British game players seemed to have enjoyed themselves while taking on the guise of one of four leading characters, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo, as the Madagascar 3-D platform game provided some special moves to pick up along the way, like Alex scaring pigeons away with his mighty roar, or Melman cleaning the rubbish from his enclosure with his helicopter spin.
Based on the highly anticipated animated comedy from DreamWorks, Madagascar the game was appreciated as an inspired example of how movie tie-ins should be made.
The DreamWorks movie, directed by Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath is based on a screenplay written by Mark Burton & Billy Frolick and Eric Darnell (written by) & Tom McGrath, as well.
Four animals from the New York's Central Park Zoo, Alex the lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the zebra (Chris Rock), Melman the giraffe ( David Schwimmer), and Gloria the hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) are best friends and stars of the show.
When Marty, who has been dreaming of heading to "the wild" is missing from his cage, his friends break free to look for him, and after some adventures in the town, they find themselves reunited on a ship en route to Africa, which gets hijacked, leaving them on a deserted island.
The captivity-raised animals have to learn first-hand what life can be like in the wild.
