Mad Catz Interactive, the most important provider of accessories for gaming consoles, has announced a variety of new peripherals that can be used with the Nintendo Wii home gaming console and the DS handheld. Most of the new announcements are related to the portable gaming device.
The Nintendo Wii itself is only getting the Wireless SenseBar, which allows the gamer to set a timer for the number of hours they plan to use the connection, allowing them to converse power and be sure they can always access the service. The new gadget can be used both with AC power and with batteries.
Meanwhile, the
Nintendo DS and the DSi version are getting a bigger array of add ons, most of them designed to protect a device which, by its very nature, can get damaged as it is used on the go.
The Premium Suede Folio Case and the Suede Game Wallet, priced at 19.99 and 14.99 dollars, are designed to allow the player to carry the handheld along with extra stylus peripherals and game cases, while the ArmorStore Case solution and the Sockz packs allow for the device to be used with the buttons clearly accessible, the rest of the platform being protected from scratches and bigger damage. There are also stylus packs that players can pick up, designed to ease control on the DS and screen protector packs.
Darren Richardson, who is the president and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz, stated, “We are excited to announce our new line of officially licensed Wii, Nintendo DSi, and DS Lite accessories. We look forward to further developing our range of Nintendo licensed products in 2010.” Most of the devices will begin appearing in spring 2010 and as the install base of the Wii and the DS continues to grow, Mad Catz is probably hoping that more and more gamers will turn to its products to extend their playing life.
