Recently updated with a refreshed interface and navigation mechanism, Mactracker 6 has received a new maintenance update (version 6.0.1) tasked with including a few new products in its data base, including the newest iMac models with Thunderbolt I/O and Sandy Bridge CPUs, and the White iPhone 4. Other additions are also mentioned by developer Ian Page.

Mactracker is the reference tool for any Apple fan. Items listed and thoroughly described by the app date back to 1983, when the company co-founded by two Steves introduced the Macintosh XL.

Using Mactracker, Apple fans can gain valuable knowledge relating to any Apple product, both software and hardware, as well as more detailed information on each item via helpful links to online sources, like Wikipedia.

As noted above, Mactracker just recently got an overhaul, which also included the addition of some recently launched products.

But developer Ian Page was taken by surprise yet again, as Apple has recently introduced new versions of its iMac desktop computers.

The company also began selling the controversial White iPhone 4 recently. All these had to go inside Mactracker, so Page updated the app to version 6.0.1 which now brings a bunch of new features.

In addition to including iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011), iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011), iPhone 4 (GSM) White and iPhone 4 (CDMA) White, Mactracker 6.0.1 adds the ability to create a new "My Models" entry from an info window.

It also lets users import lists created by Apple Remote Desktop to "My Models," and features an updated Support Status for Apple's latest Vintage and Obsolete products.

Finally, the new release is also tasked with fixing an issue where dragging a window from the bottom bar could place the title bar under the menu bar.

Other minor changes and additions are also included, Page says in the release notes.

Mactracker 6 no longer works on Tiger machines. It requires Leopard and, if you want to download it from Apple’s Mac App Store, you’ll need to have Snow Leopard running on your Intel Mac.
