Mac market share is on the up and up, and the platform is becoming harder and harder to ignore. Evidence of this can be seen not only in statistics but also in real life situations, such as the Phoenix Data Group offering Macintosh and iPod forensic training.

Not surprisingly, the Phoenix Data Group has noticed the need for proper Mac forensics training that is practical to the front-line forensics examiner. They training is designed for the student to learn what is needed, with a no-one-left-behind attitude, in a team work atmosphere. This will allow participants to walk away with the skills necessary to properly seize, acquire, analyze and document their examination of an Intel-based Macintosh computer in a forensically sound manner. Furthermore, they provide instruction on the forensic seizure and examination of Apple iPod devices.

Phoenix Data Group instructors are experienced, hold multiple certifications including the IACIS Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) and each is an accomplished and experienced instructor, having conducted hundreds of examinations for both law enforcement and civil institutions alike.

Topics Include: ■ Mac as a Forensic Platform ■ Hardware Identification ■ Obtaining System Date and Time ■ Capturing Volatile Data ■ Acquisition Methodology ■ Open Firmware Passwords ■ FileVault ■ Email ■ Graphics ■ Internet Artifacts ■ Documents ■ Non-Intel Mac Forensic Issues ■ iPod Forensics

Two classes are currently scheduled in Fredericksburg, VA (August 13-17th) and Santa Ana, CA (September 24-28th). Pricing is $1595.00 for law enforcement/government and $1895.00 for corporate trainees.

Courses such as these clearly indicate that the Mac platform has gained both market and mind share, and is not longer an obscure, minuscule minority. As Apple sells more and more machines and the platform pushed towards mainstream acceptance, courses like this will become a common occurrence.
