Bothered by the fact that tons of perfectly edible food end up in trash containers every year, a team of Korean researchers have invented a high-tech green gadget that turns leftovers from our plates into water.

Even though the concept might appear to be too advanced to be true, it has actually been implemented and displays satisfactory results, JakartaGlobe informs.

The Korean machine has attracted the attention of Renee Mison, a marketing professional who has immediately noticed the potential of the new finding and has decided to buy all the property rights and start improving the new wonder-machine.

To do so, she has launched her very own company, entitled Eco-Wiz, just like the food waste decomposer.

The innovative object is now available for sale, or can be rented after paying a monthly fee.

The food waste-to-water system can turn sludge water into dry compost that can be used as an appropriate fertilizer for gardens or exploited to obtain filtered water, good enough to water the plants.

So far, the gadget hasn't managed to provide drinking water, but several improvements are still expected.

The best thing so far is that Eco-Wiz works independently and it doesn't need to be connected to a drainage system. Due to its amazing environmental benefits, the machine has already been purchased or rented by hotels and polyclinics.

The main goal is to implement the ingenious recycling system in food factories, supermarkets and slaughterhouses, facilities that usually generate a great amount of trash.

It's not only a green method of recycling, it is also a much more convenient alternative to sending waste to landfills, since in Singapore people have to pay a rather significant fee for every ton of trash discarded. So far, Eco-Wiz has proved it can keep open dumps clean by obtaining 1,000 liters of water from a single ton of waste.

Since the advantages are noticeable, its developer has started collaborating with a team of Thai scientists, to improve the microbes, “specializing” them in decomposing a certain type of food.

This feature, once successfully implemented would increase the efficiency of Eco-Wiz. The company has already started commercializing the machine in the US, and also in China and Europe.
