Since the USB 3.0 standard is, of course, proving to be very popular, it is not surprising to hear that yet another flash drive equipped with it has made the headlines, this time courtesy of Mach Xtreme.

Mach Xtreme has been in the flash drive business for years and, naturally, it is not about to stop developing such things any time soon.

In fact, it is no stranger to any of the advanced technologies that have boosted the appeal of such units over the past couple of years.

In other words, the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed standard is something the company is very well acquainted with.

Apparently, the outfit decided it was about time it refreshed its lineup, so it issued a press release to announce the coming of the newest MX-GX model.

The high throughput of the connection, which contributes to the read and write speeds of 85 MB/s and 45 MB/s, respectively, is just one of its assets.

The other major factor in the achieving of this level of performance is the quad-channel technology.

“This drive is fast, bidirectional, dynamically attachable that is consistent with the requirements of the PC platforms of today and tomorrow and its compact size makes it easy to carry,” states the official press release.

The USB 3.0 connectors is, of course, backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports, though the performance will be limited to 480 Mbps in such cases.

Four versions of the newcomer will become available as of next month, their capacities being of 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. They will cost $24, $36, $59 and $149, respectively.

All of them will measure 90 (L) x 18.5 (W) x 8 (H) mm, weigh 25 grams, consume 3.3W of power (1.2W when idle) and utilize MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips.
