14 DAY TRIAL // Former child star Macaulay Culkin has been making a lot of headlines in recent months after several photos of him looking particularly emaciated and sickly emerged online. His estranged father is also worried he might be in trouble.
Macaulay and his dad have not been in contact for 15 years, ever since the actor cut him off after fighting over money, a source says for the latest print issue of InTouch (story via here).
Their history is an old and very complicated one, with all reports pointing that Christopher “Kit” Culking might actually be to blame for his son's decision to never want to see him again.
Back in 1997, after Kit separated from the actor's mother, he was fired as manager and then shut out.
Macaulay accused his parents of mismanagement of his finances, but he also had the cops called on Kit after he assaulted him. Kit told cops that he slapped his son for “not cleaning his room.”
Even so, Kit is terribly worried about Mac, especially after he saw the aforementioned set of photos of which we also informed you a while back.
“No one was more concerned about the actor’s dangerously emaciated appearance than his estranged dad, Christopher ‘Kit’ Culkin, who is secretly terrified that the 31 year-old is headed down a dark, dangerous path,” InTouch writes.
“According to a source, a 'totally devastated' Kit – who recently survived a risky heart transplant operation – is so distraught, he can barely talk about just how worried he is for his son. 'It’s a tragic state of affairs,' reveals the source. 'It’s so painful for him',” the report further argues.
“It’s doubly painful, explains the source, because 'Kit has not seen Mac since 1997' – when he was cut out of his son’s life after being fired as the then-child star’s manager, following a financial dispute,” InTouch says.
The family felt that Kit had wronged them so much that they did not even let him know when his daughter, Dakota, was killed in a car accident 4 years ago.
The insider claims he found out about the tragic news in the press, pretty much like everybody else.
“He has endured so much heartache and betrayal over the years. When Dakota died, nobody even told Kit – he had to read about it in the media…” the insider says.
He wants to reach out to Macaulay and fix things with him before it's too late.
“Kit doesn’t want to lose another child before they’ve had a chance to mend their relationship,” explains the spy.
